Aikijutsu
Program Description: The aikijutsu program at the Martial Arts Complex provides instruction in a modern, practical, self-defense. Students begin by training in Ukemi, or falling techniques. Once the student becomes proficient in Ukemi, they start to develop balance and coordination of body movements usingĀ aiki methods. The student is then trained in the concepts of distance and positioning in relation to the opponent or opponents. This training includes instruction in: atemi (striking); controlling the balance of the opponent through positioning and timing; and the development of ki (internal energy) Instruction culminates with the student being able to use their energy in harmony with the opponent, and the opponent's energy against them. The empty-handed combat curriculum consists of Atemi, throws, and controlling/submission techniques.
Instructor Profile: Instructor Freider Taborda has been studying the martial arts for over 14 years and is certified by the American Martial Arts Association (AMAA), as an aikijutsu instructor. He has recieved training in Furoshin Kai under Master Saviano. Freider is currently training in Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu and is the daito-ryu kodokai group leader at Martial Arts Complex.
